PIKE Iota Iota Founders' Day Update (2018)

Dear Pi Kappa Alpha Alumni,

Happy Founders Day and 150th anniversary from the active members of Iota Iota! I hope this email finds you all well. I would like to provide you all with a brief chapter update from the current school year:

We recently initiated 39 new members into the bonds over the past semester. This now brings our chapter total to 162 members; the largest fraternity on MSU’s campus.

Over Winter break, several renovations were made to improve the chapter house:

We now have a BrotherHood room on the first floor of the house. This room has two HD TV’s mounted on the wall and several couches; it serves as a great place for us to come together and watch sports (specifically for the green and white).

We also invested in an iron picket fence that surrounds the majority of the property. This is has greatly increased security. As an indirect result it has also improved our relationship with the city of East Lansing; We have not received a single ticket or violation since the initial 2017 move-in date.

In November of 2016 our brother, Abhi Shah, passed away. We took it upon ourselves to construct a fundraiser to support his foundation, Smile 4 Kids. On February 15th, we held an event at Harper’s where all proceeds from the cover fee were donated directly to the foundation. In one night, we raised $4,755 dollars for underprivileged kids in the local Lansing area.

We have two events planned for this Spring; both of which we hope to receive alumni participation.

International Work Day is scheduled for Saturday March 24th, from 10am-4pm. During this time we plan on bringing the chapter together, both past and present, to make several improvements to the interior and exterior of the chapter house. This will also be parlayed into a reserved social event at Harpers.

The Annual Alumni Golf Outing will be held on Sunday April 22nd at Eagle Eye Golf Course. This course is an upgrade from our previous venue. The current price is $69 per person, but should go down once we reach the quota of 100 golfers.

Lastly, we would like to express our thanks to the group of alumni that continuously dedicate their time and effort towards the house. They have been a great resource to all the current leaders of the chapter.
